STRUMMING PATTERNS. Once we start getting the hang of it, we realize it’s much simpler than how it seems like. In order to steadily play the songs that we love, we just have to use a steady strumming pattern that repeats itself. (I used to be a smartass and thing that the strums are different in each measure, and that’s why I really sounded bad at the beginning)
However, there’s one strumming pattern that I kept noticing that’s super common and it’s used far more than the others, and I would not exaggerate if I’ll say that it’s the actual pattern that’s used in about 20% of the rock, classic rock songs and country songs out there. (and can be used for a lot more if you just slightly tweak the other rhythms)
As a fun exercise, you can open up the Guitar Songs Masters best campfire songs and check out how many songs there can be played with it. The answer is easily over 20% in that case, since there are many beginner songs in there, and this strumming pattern is even more common among “easier” songs.
WHY does it make a lot of sense to learn how to play this one strumming pattern perfectly?
Because it’s so common, learning it and being comfortable with playing it steadily, would “open up” your ability to cleanly and smoothly play hundreds of songs.
