Follow the Sun – “Songs that Touched Me”

3 minutes read

28.6.19 – Melbourne. Follow The Sun.

“This song contains the entire core of humanity.”

I read the above sentence in a YouTube comment, but besides sounding smart – I feel like it really hits the spot.

This sunset that I played this song to is my last sunset in Melbourne, at least for this time around.

I came here with an idea in mind – and I romanticized this place to unreal levels over three full years.

I thought that it will be perfect beyond any imaginable thought, and this would be the place where I would want to spend much of my life.

But as life thought me (again) – never place too much expectations on anything.

While it’s been great, it also left much to desire.

And since Amsterdam is off the plans now, it’s time to follow the sun again – elsewhere.

The last time that this song hit me was after a trip to Germany to visit a girlfriend went wrong, and this song literally carried me to the direction of love… In the Netherlands.

With a huge optimistic smile on my face, in between the tears that I just finished wiping.
I kept listening to it over and over on the 7 hours train ride, to a meeting that got me in a long, unexpected romance.

And now it hits me again in this June.

So I am following the sun.

Some people call it intuition, for me it’s listening to god and where he directs me to go. One or the other, whenever I followed “the direction of the birds” – things went well.

This time the direction leads me on a flight to the Gold Coast of Australia – and from there on a short ride to Byron Bay.

I was there over the last Easter and I was touched by the vibes. Friends, music, good times. It seemed like a place that I should go back to and check out more deeply.

So I will be heading there this week, for all of July. Then I’m out of Aus for now.

I have no idea how this month will look like – but I know it’s gonna be an awesome ride. (:

Cheers.

Follow, follow the sun
And which way the wind blows
When this day is done

Breathe, breathe in the air
Set your intentions
Dream with care

Tomorrow is a new day for everyone,
Brand new moon, brand new sun

So follow, follow the sun,
The direction of the bird,
The direction of love

Breathe, breathe in the air,
Cherish this moment,
Cherish this breath

Tomorrow is a new day for everyone,
Brand new moon, brand new sun

When you feel life coming down on you,
Like a heavy weight
When you feel this crazy society,
Adding to the strain
Take a stroll to the nearest waters
And remember your place
Many moons have risen and fallen long, long before you came

So which way is the wind blowin’,
And what does your heart say?

So follow, follow the sun,
And which way the wind blows
When this day is done
