Musing: The Highest Achievement of Music?

What is the highest achievement of music?

When it serves an emotion.

When I listen to “Waltzing Matilda” by Tommy Emmanuel. And I look outside at the downtown skyline of Melbourne, and I am suddenly liking it so much more.

Even feeling a bit patriotic about it, with its grey, gloomy skies.

Even though I was born so far away from here, and outside of this song I don’t feel like I belong here at all.

This is music at its best.

* Waltzing Matilda is a tune that’s considered to be “Australia’s unofficial anthem” and is massively loved here.

The view of downtown Melbourne from my window as “Matilda” came up on YouTube.

Feeling patriotic today. (;
